You've heard of the signature Shore Style, but I'd like to introduce you all to Ocean City Style.
Vision Quest is a four-piece band from the Southwest of England who have been working up a storm over the last two years. With only a handful of songs, they've been able to turn heads all over England and Wales; sharing the stage with Shelter, Backtrack, The Geeks, and Chamber (UK).
Their most recent effort, "Bear Witness", is UK's answer to NJHC of the late 90's and early 2000's (Floorpunch, Get Real). The songs are quick and well executed, ranging from mid-tempo to the type of pace seen in some of Turnstiles material. From start to finish, it clocks in just shy of 7 minutes.
The vocal style is reminiscent of early Down to Nothing, delivered with a lot of swagger and clever wordplay. The guitar tone has a nice crunch to it, giving the plentiful ammount mosh parts more oomph. Overlapping the hard hitting riffs, the dredging bass tone complements the guitar and adds crucial depth to the crucial depth to the tracks. My favorite aspect of the record is the drums. The concise, driving beats and the snap of the snare really bring the whole sound together to make this a fun listen.
Imo "Psych" is the best song on the 7" and serves as the perfect introduction to the bands sound. Order this record, stream it, and show some love to one of the best bands in the UK.
